ON APRIL 20TH, 2005 ARTISTS AND ACTIVISTS CELEBRATED 35 YEARS OF SMOKE-IN HISTORY AND HELD A CD RELEASE PARTY FOR REIGNITE-IT! AS A FUNDRAISER FOR THE 35TH ANNIVERSARY SMOKE-IN FEATURING:
Tom Principato
Like his guitarist peers in the DC area such as Danny Gatton, Jorma Kaukonen, and Nils Lofgren, this award-winning musician is one of the most unique guitarists around. With 14 releases to his credit, this veteran built his career combining his rich blues background with high-energy rock, and a highly charged, emotionally expressive delivery.
G-13
Here is how Music Monthly of DC/Baltimore described G-13: "The group's calling card is good songs in stark form...an apt representation of the new aesthetic, Frampton comes alive via the Dead."
The Ordinary Way
Local favorites The Ordinary Way are a Northern Virginia-based sextet blending and texturing the genres of rock, funk, jazz, blues, reggae, electronica, and improvisational mayhem. During the past 4 years they have consistently and energetically helped raise funds for Fourth of July Smoke-In and will perform at this years demonstration.
Unfortunate Sons
Founded in 1980 by four friends in Boyds, Maryland as a CCR cover band, this group has retained an emphasis on fun and "music with a message". The band features original tunes from funky psychedelic jam band to crunchy blues and more.
